Explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions
> 10.0 km (> 32,800 ft) ASL could occur at any time. The activity
of the volcano could affect international and low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity of the volcano was above background levels all week. According to visual data, Strombolian activity was observed on September 17 and 20-21. Ash plumes rose up to 6.5-7.0 km (21,300-23,000 ft) ASL on September 20-21. A lava flow continues to effused from the summit crater down the south-western flank of the volcano. According to satellite data, a big bright thermal anomaly was registered over the volcano all week. Ash plumes reached 6.5 km (21,300 ft) ASL and extended about 60 km (37 mi) to the western directions from the volcano on September 19, and about 240 km (149 mi) to the eastern directions from the volcano on September 20-21.

Explosive-extrusive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions > 10 km (> 32,800 ft) ASL could occur at any time. The activity of the volcano could affect international and low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity was above background levels last week, and according to seismic data, ash plumes rose up to 3.5 km (11,500 ft) all week. According to visual data, moderate gas-steam plumes with ash were observed on September 21, clouds obscured the volcano on the other days of week. According to satellite data, a thermal anomaly was registered over the lava dome all week. Ash plumes extended about 16 km (10 mi) to the south-east from the volcano on September 21.

(> 19,700 ft) ASL could occur at any time. Aactivity of the volcano
could affect low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity was above background levels on September 16-20 and at background levels on September 21-22. According to seismic data, possibly weak ash explosions occurred at the volcano on September 16-20. According to satellite data, clouds obscured the volcano.

Seismic and thermal activity of the volcano remains high. Probably an eruption of Gorely is preparing. Aerosol plumes from the volcano could affect low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity of the volcano was above background levels all week, volcanic tremor continues to be recorded. According to visual data, moderate gas-steam activity of the volcano was observed almost all week.

BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO: 55°58'N, 160°36'E; Elevation 2,895 m

Grows of the lava dome of the volcano continues and aerosol plumes could affect low-flying aircraft.
Strong volcanic activity of Klyuchevskoy volcano obscured seismic data of Bezymianny all week. According to visual data, moderate gas-steam activity of the volcano was observed on September 17 and 20-21. Clouds obscured the volcano on the other days of week. According to satellite data, a weak thermal anomaly was registered over the lava dome on September 17 and 21, clouds obscured the volcano on the other days of week.

The Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) is a
non-commercial cooperative program of the Alaska Volcano Observatory
(AVO, USA), the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (IVS) FED RAS
and the Kamchatkan Branch of Geophysical Survey (KB GS) RAS (Russia).
KVERT staff is available in the office from 8:30 AM till 6:00 PM (KST
or KDT) and by phone during the evenings. KVERT uses daily satellite
imagery, information from remote scientific observation stations,
real-time seismic data for 10 volcanoes, and other information to
monitor activity at Kamchatkan and Northern Kuriles Volcanoes.
