Moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. Strong ash
explosions up to 10 km (or 32,800 ft) ASL could occur at any time.
Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity of the volcano decreased last two days but remains high. According to satellite data, ash plumes from the volcano continue to registering at satellite images but a height of ash plumes do not exceeds 13,120-19,680 ft (4-6 km) ASL.

History of Kizimen eruptions is unknown. We have incomplete data about
only one eruption in 1928-1929 which were likely moderate explosive (or
explosive-effusive) events. Tephrachronological data point out several
catastrophic eruptions in evolution of this volcano.

SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (1000-27)
56°38'N, 161°19'E; Elevation 3,283 m, the dome elevation ~8,200 ft
(~2,500 m)
AVIATION COLOR CODE IS ORANGE
Explosive-extrusive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions
up to 10 km (or 32,800 ft) ASL could occur at any time. Ongoing
activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft.
Seismicity of the volcano continues, and according to seismic data, possible ash plume rose up to 6.7 km (22,000 ft) ASL this week. According to visual data, ash plumes rose up to 7.5 km (24,600 ft) ASL and extended to the northern and south-eastern directions on April 22 and 25-27. According to satellite data, ash plumes rose up to 8.0 km (26,240 ft) ASL on April 27. Ash plumes extended about 153 km (95 mi) to the north from the volcano on April 22. Ash clouds were noted as far as 400 km (248 mi) to the south-east from the volcano on April 23-24 and 27. A thermal anomaly was registered over the lava dome all week.

Explosive activity of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 6.0
km (or 19,700 ft) ASL could occur at any time. Activity of the volcano
could affect low-flying aircraft.
Moderate seismic activity of the volcano continues, possible ash plumes rose up to 3.4 km (11,150 ft) ASL. According to visual data, moderate explosive activity of the volcano continues. According to satellite data, gas-steam plumes extended about 38 km to the southern directions from the volcano on April 22-23; a thermal anomaly was registering over the volcano all week.

Effusion of viscous lava flow at the dome slope continues. Small ash plumes from hot avalanches is possible. Ash and aerosol plumes could affect low-flying aircraft.
There was not seismic data all week due to technical reasons. According to visual data, moderate gas-steam activity was observing on April 22 and 24-25. According to satellite data, a bright thermal anomaly over the lava dome was registering all week, a gas-steam plume extended 27 km (17 mi) to the north-west on April 22.

GORELY VOLCANO (1000-07)
52°33'N, 158°02'E; Elevation 5,996 ft (1,828 m)
AVIATION COLOR CODE IS YELLOW
Seismic and thermal activity of the volcano remains high. This ongoing
unrest may eventually lead to an explosive eruption. Aerosol plumes
from the volcano could affect low-flying aircraft.
Moderate seismic activity of the volcano continues and weak volcanic tremor was registered at the volcano all week. According to visual data, a moderate gas-steam activity was observed on April 24. The lake into the active crater of the volcano disappeared. According to satellite data, a weak thermal anomaly was registered over the volcano on April 22-24 and 27.

FOR 22 ADDITIONAL VOLCANOES OF KAMCHATKA AND THE NORTHERN KURILES.
THESE VOLCANOES ARE NOT PRESENTLY MONITORED WITH SEISMIC INSTRUMENTS
HOWEVER KVERT SCIENTISTS EXAMINED SATELLITE INFORMATION EACH DAY TO
LOOK FOR EVIDENCE OF VOLCANIC UNREST SINCE 2002. NOT ALL OF THESE
VOLCANOES HAD ERUPTIONS IN HISTORICAL TIME, HOWEVER THEY ARE
POTENTIALLY ACTIVE AND THEREFORE ARE OF CONCERN TO AVIATION.

The KVERT Project is a non-commercial cooperative program of the Alaska
Volcano Observatory (AVO, USA), the Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology (IVS) FED RAS and the Kamchatkan Branch of Geophysical
Survey (KB GS) RAS (Russia). KVERT staff is available in the office
from 8:30 AM till 6:00 PM (KST or KDT) and by phone during the
evenings. KVERT uses daily satellite imagery, information from remote
scientific observation stations, real-time seismic data for 10
volcanoes, and other information to monitor activity at Kamchatkan and
Northern Kuriles Volcanoes.
